Job Overview
As a Security Dog Handler at Hilton, you will play a crucial role in enhancing guest safety and facility security by managing trained dogs to perform various security tasks. Your work will help create a positive and secure environment, contributing to memorable guest experiences through exceptional hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Train dogs using diverse methods so they can reliably respond to commands and perform security tasks.
- Provide regular feeding, exercise, and grooming to maintain the dogs' physical health and wellbeing.
- Assess and monitor dog behavior to evaluate temperament, training potential, and overall aptitude.
- Conduct foot patrols inside and outside the hotel premises to detect possible security threats or unsafe conditions.
- Analyze situations logically and report incidents promptly to ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors from the dogs.
- Manage dogs in crowded public environments ensuring their comfort and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with security teams to respond swiftly to emergencies such as fire or safety hazards threatening life or property.
- Address behavioral or medical issues in consultation with veterinarians or animal behavior specialists.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to security radio and safety hotline communications based on priority.
- Maintain detailed records on each dog's progress and behavior.
- Ensure dogs' safety during training sessions and work activities.
- Communicate with dog owners or authorities regarding dogs' performance, issues, or concerns.
- Observe and report on dogs' behavior for any alarming signs needing attention.
- Work outdoors under various weather conditions, requiring physical fitness and stamina.
- Carry out sweeping and sniffing inspections of luggage, meeting rooms, and surrounding areas as needed.
- Handle dogs carefully to prevent unnecessary attacks during vehicle screening and be prepared to administer first aid to injured dogs.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum educational qualification of HND or BSc.
- Prior experience working as a security dog handler.
- Strong knowledge of fire procedures, disaster plans, bomb threat protocols, and hotel evacuation processes.
- Familiarity with local laws and government regulations related to security.
- Maintain absolute discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Exhibit a positive attitude combined with excellent communication skills.
- Adhere to good personal grooming standards.
- Ability to remain calm and perform effectively under pressure, especially during emergencies.
- Capable of working independently or collaboratively within teams.
- Experience in customer service environments.
- Certification or training in First Aid.
- Knowledge of Protective Activities and Control Enhancements (P.A.C.E.) security methodology.
- Proficient with Information Technology tools.
