About the Role
Polaris Education at Redstone Hall School in Ipswich is recruiting a One to One Teaching Assistant on a 12-month fixed term contract, working full-time during school terms. This role supports pupils aged 5 to 18 with complex needs in a safe, nurturing environment that prioritizes academic progress along with emotional and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated mentoring and support to one pupil or a small group up to six pupils.
- Assist the classroom teacher throughout lessons.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress and concerns, collaborating with school staff to meet individual needs.
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities including extra-curricular events and school trips.
- Help with lesson planning and preparation of classroom materials.
- Set work and assist with marking assignments as appropriate.
- Establish positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and favorable learning outcomes.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong foundational education, ideally up to A-level, with at least Grade C/4 GCSE or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
- Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar supporting role.
- Experience working with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in an educational context.
- Confidence and willingness to take additional responsibilities such as managing food hygiene, forest school activities, lunchtimes, or yoga sessions.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques.
- Committed to ongoing professional development and learning.
- Willingness to complete an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to employment.
