Overview
Join the Selwyn District Council team in Rolleston, Canterbury, as a Development Engineering Technical Advisor. This role is pivotal in overseeing development engineering input and approvals connected to land development, offering expert technical guidance, and supporting the delivery of high-quality outcomes within one of New Zealand's fastest-growing districts.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for Development Engineering inquiries, supplying technical advice to both internal teams and external clients.
- Coordinate processes including Engineering Acceptances, Section 224 Certificates, and 3 Waters Servicing Certificates.
- Manage engineering contributions to Project Information Memorandums (PIMs), Land Information Memorandums (LIMs), resource consents, flood assessment certificates, and building consent applications.
- Oversee street naming and property numbering/addressing procedures.
- Maintain thorough records, registers, and data within various systems.
- Promote and assist in process improvements aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
- Handle invoicing and financial administration related to development engineering applications.
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with developers, consultants, contractors, and council stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
- Proactive coordinator with a solutions-oriented mindset who balances technical accuracy with exceptional customer service.
- Experience in coordination or administrative roles within construction, engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
- Proficient in managing invoicing and complex receipting processes.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- High digital literacy and confidence with modern business software and technologies.
- Sharp analytical skills, keen attention to detail, and effective problem-solving abilities.
- Team player with a collaborative approach and enthusiasm for continuous process improvements.
- Local government experience, and knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, procurement or relevant qualifications in engineering or construction, are advantageous.
