Senior Resource Consent Planner

Role Overview

We are seeking a driven and experienced Senior Resource Consent Planner to become an integral part of our team in a permanent, full-time capacity. Key Responsibilities

• Providing authoritative advice on the Resource Management Act (RMA) and the District Plan to Council members, senior leadership, and clients
• Leading management of intricate resource consent applications including representing the Council at hearings and serving as expert witness during appeals
• Making delegated decisions on resource consents and facilitating sound decision-making processes
• Collaborating across departments on policy development, plan amendments, monitoring programs, and compliance enforcement
• Mentoring and coaching junior and developing planners
• Driving and participating in team development initiatives for continuous improvement

About the Team

You will join a supportive Planning Team and play a leadership role mentoring Resource Management Planners and Graduate Planners.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of a degree in planning, resource management, or a related field
• Minimum of seven years' experience in planning or resource management
• Proven exposure to Council hearings with the capability to communicate technical information clearly and confidently
• Strong, practical knowledge of the Resource Management Act
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including report preparation
• Proficiency in digital tools and adaptability to new systems
• Held a full New Zealand driver's license
• Collaborative, pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset with a positive and approachable attitude

Compensation

Starting salary will be negotiated based on expertise and experience within Grade 18 range: NZD 111,629 to NZD 148,838 annually.
