Role Overview
The Continuous Improvement Manager, also known as the Vertiv Operating System (VOS) Manager, holds an operational leadership role based in Burnfoot, County Donegal. This position is accountable for planning, developing, and executing lean manufacturing processes, including deploying the VOS framework. The manager oversees continuous improvement initiatives and the standardization of manufacturing procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement improvement strategies aligned with corporate objectives while collaborating with operations managers and team leaders to execute performance enhancement plans.
- Advance lean manufacturing competencies among management and staff, establishing sustainable approaches for daily problem-solving and continuous improvements.
- Lead and coach operational leaders to integrate efforts across the value chain, aiming to shorten lead times, elevate customer satisfaction, reduce operational expenses, and improve cash flow.
- Guide the continuous development of team skills and champion enhancement of Vertiv's standards, methodologies, and processes.
- Supervise VOS Coordinators and their teams, ensuring daily activities align with VOS standards and compliance.
- Chair the VOS Steering Committee and manage associated communications, education, and training activities.
- Conduct thorough site analyses including operational baselines, financial reviews, and ongoing performance tracking.
- Collaborate with the Regional VOS Leader and the General (Plant) Manager to maintain strategy consistency and implementation across initiatives and sites.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and environmental protection principles.
- Initiate and lead change management projects affecting company operations and customer outcomes.
- Travel requirement: Approximately 10% work-related travel.
Qualifications and Skills
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies with a proven track record in applying and mentoring change management, behavioral coaching, and performance management techniques.
- Background in continuous improvement and manufacturing engineering disciplines.
- Strong leadership capabilities to manage workflows and direct teams effectively.
- Advanced analytical skills, including proficiency in statistical modeling, root cause analysis, and operational improvement tools.
- Fluent in English with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Access.
