We invite applications for the position of Plant Manager to oversee our substantial manufacturing facility in Burnfoot, County Donegal, Ireland. This role is instrumental in steering the plant toward operational perfection, cultivating a high-achieving culture, and driving the site to meet international standards of excellence. Close interaction with the nearby Letterkenny and Campsie sites, as well as liaison with leadership across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the United States, is key to this position.

Role Responsibilities

  • Full accountability for the day-to-day management of the Burnfoot plant, which employs over 1000 staff.
  • Development and oversight of annual budgets while managing profit and loss outcomes.
  • Direct supervision and support of teams in production, engineering, quality assurance, materials management, finance, facilities, and environmental health and safety.
  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and union-free workplace environment.
  • Drive strategic operational frameworks including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous process improvements to surpass targets in quality, timely delivery, cost efficiency, inventory optimization, and throughput.
  • Construct and maintain adaptable production systems capable of scaling to meet customer demands and business growth.
  • Recruitment, training, and motivation of both plant leadership and frontline personnel, emphasizing a culture of safety and operational excellence.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations with clear developmental pathways.
  • Maintain transparent communications throughout the plant to keep all teams informed and engaged.
  • Engage directly with customers to ensure exceptional service and facilitate new product launches.
  • Represent Vertiv positively within the local community through business and civic interactions.
  • Lead and deliver on key special projects within specified deadlines.
  • Ensure accurate financial tracking and rigorous cost management.
  • Participate in regional community and industry events to strengthen corporate presence.

Direct Reporting Structure

The Plant Manager will oversee various key managers including Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, Quality Control, Materials, Controller, and Safety Engineer.

Candidate Profile

  • Comprehensive expertise in manufacturing operations management encompassing production processes, inventory control, cost productivity analysis, quality systems, and order fulfillment metrics.
  • Proven track record in effective leadership and mentoring of diverse teams.
  • Solid experience utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Educational background with a Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Manufacturing, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Substantial experience managing large-scale production facilities.
  • Operational know-how in supply chain management, Lean Manufacturing, and overall operational excellence.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive and lead in complex, multinational, and sometimes uncertain environments.
  • Experience interfacing with suppliers and overseeing structured manufacturing operations, including MRP systems.

Travel Requirements

Role involves approximately 25% regional travel.
