Summary
We are seeking a skilled Civil Estimator to join a leading civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Canterbury, Kent. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute in preparing competitive bids for a diverse range of civil engineering, groundworks, and drainage projects. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering, groundworks, and drainage assignments.
- Perform quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings along with tender documents.
- Create Bills of Quantities utilizing estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, commercial, and operations teams throughout the tendering phase.
- Source and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Contribute to the development of tender strategies and compile all necessary documentation for submissions.
- Assist in transitioning successful tenders to project delivery teams for execution.
- Maintain accurate databases of labor, equipment, and material costs.
- Work alongside an experienced Senior Estimator, benefiting from mentoring and opportunities for professional growth.
Qualifications and Experience
- Prior experience estimating within civil engineering, groundworks, drainage, or infrastructure environments.
- A background in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability in producing competitive tender proposals and detailed quantity take-offs.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and specialized estimating software.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with multiple departments.
- Possession of a full UK driving licence.
- Ability to commute to the Canterbury area.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary ranging from £50,000 to £60,000 depending on experience.
- Monthly car allowance of £490.
