AI Applications Operations Lead, Global Public Sector

Role Summary

Join Scale's swiftly expanding Global Public Sector group dedicated to leveraging AI technologies to solve fundamental challenges faced by public institutions worldwide. Your main responsibilities will include developing tailor-made AI solutions affecting millions, generating robust training data for national large language models, and delivering upskilling and advisory expertise to maximize AI impact globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the successful production lifecycle of end-to-end AI applications.
• Maintain system reliability and real-time inference monitoring.
• Manage sovereign data orchestration and implement secure software integrations.
• Support robust cloud infrastructure tailored for international government partners.
• Be fully accountable for the operational performance and dependability of AI deployments across government agencies internationally.
• Supervise full-stack system integrity including the seamless operation from backend AI cores to APIs and user interface components to ensure production readiness.
• Develop automated monitoring to track model effectiveness and data drift in multiple geographic regions.
• Navigate and manage system compliance with diverse international regulations.
• Lead rapid response and incident management for mission-critical production issues, establishing preventative measures.
• Communicate complex technical performance insights effectively to senior government stakeholders worldwide.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and machine learning teams to integrate field insights into future product architecture and decisions.

Desired Qualifications

• Over six years in a significant technical capacity such as Site Reliability Engineering, Full-stack Development, or MLOps, preferably within the public sector.
• Understanding of global government security protocols and experience deploying sovereign AI systems.
• Strong architectural skills managing live production applications with expertise spanning frontend, APIs, backend, and AI components.
• Proficiency with contemporary AI technologies including Kubernetes, vector databases, agentic system development, and large language model observability tools.
• A proactive ownership approach to ensure flawless production operations and preemptively resolve challenges.
• Recognition of the sensitivity around AI model failures impacting public safety and privacy.
• Exceptional ability to clarify technical degradation and remediation plans to high-level officials.
