Job description

Role overview

Scale’s Global Public Sector team is growing quickly and applies artificial intelligence to some of the most important challenges faced by governments worldwide. The team focuses on building tailored AI applications that can affect millions of citizens, producing high-quality training data for national large language models, and delivering advisory support and upskilling to broaden the value of AI adoption.

In this role, you will own the production lifecycle for full-stack AI applications. Your work will span system reliability, real-time inference monitoring, sovereign data orchestration, secure software integration, and resilient cloud infrastructure for international government partners.

This is an opportunity to help public sector organizations modernize operations and serve people more effectively through advanced AI systems. The role is suited to someone who wants to take early ownership in a high-impact team and help shape its direction.

What you will do

  • Take end-to-end accountability for the long-term performance and stability of AI solutions used by government agencies.
  • Oversee the health of the complete product stack, making sure the AI layer, APIs, and user interface work together smoothly in production.
  • Build automated monitoring and feedback mechanisms to track model quality and data drift across distributed regions.
  • Handle technical delivery within different regulatory and compliance environments.
  • Coordinate incident response for critical production issues and help put preventative controls in place afterward.
  • Turn detailed technical metrics into clear, actionable updates for senior government stakeholders.
  • Work closely with engineering and machine learning teams so lessons from live deployments influence future product and architecture decisions.

Ideal experience and profile

Applicants should bring at least 6 years of experience in a technical role such as SRE, FDE, or MLOps, preferably with public sector exposure. A strong understanding of international government security requirements and the delivery of sovereign AI systems is important.

You should be comfortable supporting production-grade platforms across the full request path, from frontend and API layers through the backend and AI core. Hands-on knowledge of modern AI infrastructure is expected, including Kubernetes, vector databases, agentic development, and observability tools for large language models.

The right person will take strong ownership of production outcomes, move quickly to solve issues before customers notice them, and understand the seriousness of failures in public sector settings, especially when safety or privacy may be affected. You should also be able to explain performance degradation and remediation steps clearly to senior officials.

There is a 90-day waiting period before a candidate can be reconsidered for the same role.
