Job Overview

The Wetland Biologist/Ecologist will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary group, supporting both private and public sector projects. The role focuses on wetland and stream delineation, classifications, and critical area-related tasks. Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct field assessments at wetland and stream Critical Areas and Shorelines of the State.
• Lead and support projects such as wetland delineations, critical areas reports, functional assessments, compliance monitoring, and mitigation planning within Washington State.
• Produce technical reports and prepare environmental services proposals.
• Maintain client communications to meet project goals.
• Collaborate flexibly within a team-oriented work environment.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, environmental science, or a related discipline preferred.
• Wetland delineation experience or certification in Wetland Science & Management from the University of Washington.
• Familiarity with Pacific Northwest flora and fauna; ISA arborist certification is advantageous.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities; assessment tests may be administered.
• Valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean driving record.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; GIS mapping experience is a plus.
• Additional certifications or expertise in fisheries biology, stream ecology, arboriculture, marine monitoring, or GIS preferred.
• Experience or accreditation in preparing biological assessments and evaluations, such as WSDOT Biological Assessment Author credential, is beneficial.
• Knowledge of Eastern and Western Washington wetland rating systems and regional critical area regulations.
• Familiarity with permitting processes including USACE 404, HPA, shoreline permits, 401 Water Quality Certification, and local authorizations.
