About the Role
The Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA) is seeking a Senior Administrative Assistant to join the Professional Development team at our Barnett House location in Edmonton. ATA is a leading organization dedicated to supporting Alberta's educators by advancing public education, championing teachers professional development, and advocating for its membership. Position Highlights
- Permanent full-time contract
- 35-hour workweek

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, edit, and disseminate materials such as reports, addenda, correspondence, and documents for committees, conferences, workshops, seminars, and meetings
- Ensure all produced documents meet ATA s quality and formatting standards
- Support staff by preparing and editing documents including PowerPoint presentations
- Coordinate scheduling of meetings and events, including booking rooms
- Maintain organized and accurate electronic filing and record-keeping systems
- Manage incoming mail and distribute as appropriate
- Assist with general organizational duties within the program area as assigned
- Answer and screen telephone calls professionally
- Provide assistance at conference venues when required
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of a relevant certificate along with at least three years of administrative experience demonstrating proficiency in accuracy, keyboarding, proofreading, spelling, punctuation, and grammar
- Ability to handle sensitive and challenging situations while maintaining confidentiality
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships
- Capability to multitask, prioritize work efficiently, and perform under pressure with tight or conflicting deadlines
- Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities
- Initiative, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Dedication to continued professional growth
- Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
- Experience using Alinity is advantageous
- Being bilingual in French and English (written and spoken) is a desirable asset
