Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by removing contaminants such as grease, dirt, old paint, and rust through various methods including abrasives, solvents, brushes, heating tools, washing tanks, and sandblasting.
- Support painters by assisting in pre-paint blending tasks to ensure color consistency and quality.
- Coordinate with the paint team to maintain workflow efficiency and help keep vehicles on their scheduled delivery timeline.
- Apply body fillers to minor dents and scratches, smoothing surfaces in preparation for the painting process.
- Perform finishing work by buffing and waxing paint to achieve a polished and refined look.
- Disassemble and clean spray equipment and power tools using appropriate solvents, wire brushes, and cloths to maintain equipment hygiene and functionality.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience in vehicle paint preparation or related processes.
- Possession of I-CAR certifications is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and collaborate well within a team environment.
- Successful completion of a comprehensive background check is required.

Compensation Details
Compensation for this position is offered via a commission and flag rate system, guaranteeing at least the local minimum wage for all hours worked weekly. The average salary range for a full-time Paint Prepper in this role spans from $40,000 to $92,400 annually, with actual offers determined by relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and certifications.
