Role Overview

We invite applications for the position of Moving & Handling Adviser, a permanent part-time role based at Ailsa Hospital. The successful candidate will play an integral part of the Moving and Handling Team responsible for delivering comprehensive support across the organization in line with Annex 21 conditions.

Work Hours and Location

This role requires a commitment of 36 hours per week on-site in Ayr, Scotland. A UK driving license is mandatory as duties cover the wider NHS Ayrshire & Arran area.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and coordinate all aspects of moving and handling services across the organization.
• Deliver training and assess handler competencies, demonstrating adherence to national competency standards.
• Plan and contribute to patient care, particularly in challenging patient handling scenarios, ensuring safety and best practices.
• Communicate clearly and effectively to facilitate training and operational excellence.
• Prepare high-quality reports and presentations using Microsoft Office tools.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant healthcare qualification such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, or Occupational Therapy.
• Substantive post-registration experience including patient handling in challenging contexts.
• Prior attendance on instructor or key worker moving and handling training courses.
• Competency or progression towards the Scottish Manual Handling Passport standards is desirable.
• Strong computer literacy with the ability to produce reports and presentations to a professional standard.

Additional Requirements and Support

Candidates not fully meeting the competence criteria may be considered under Annex 21 conditions and will receive ongoing support to complete required competency programs within 24 months of appointment.
