Job Overview

This role involves proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to define 2D and 3D CAD models in accordance with design specifications provided by PTM R&D, Design Leaders, or Design Engineers. You will create 3D models that consider moulding/plastic constraints, mechanical clearances, and component clashes, as well as 2D drawings adhering to layout, drawing rules, and functional tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

• Take charge of the 2D/3D design definition of assigned components or partial components, ensuring compliance with Branch CAD methodology, model quality standards, quality tools, checklists, and self-verification.
• Handle minor technical definitions such as clips, locating features, and local area designs involving standard integration, strengthening ribs, or harness layouts.
• Adhere to and promote quality procedures rigorously.
• Validate and monitor all CAD data related to your projects within VLS Branch PDM/PLM systems.
• Manage task lead-time and cost efficiently by meeting project milestones and deadlines.
• Oversee CAD tasks management and, if needed, supervise CAD operators and CAD Work Orders for task planning and control.

Technical Expertise and Skills

• Automotive domain knowledge, specifically exterior lighting components such as headlamps and rear lamps.
• Experience in plastics applications, especially moulding and tooling considerations.
• Proficiency in product design, product engineering, and CATIA V5 software.
• Computer Aided Styling (CAS) familiarity, particularly for headlamp and rear lamp styling in collaboration with P1 teams.
• Engagement in design innovation for lighting and signalling, including stylistic benchmarking and network participation.

Product Development & Design Tasks

• Support product development focusing on design aspects and contribute by proposing innovative ideas.
• Create design proposals through sketches, 3D models, and renderings.
• Participate in model design and implementation to promote novel concepts.
• Engage effectively in Valeo's design processes such as design reviews.
