Job Overview
The Junior Accountant position is a full-time permanent role based in Sydney dedicated to managing daily accounts payable duties, completing month-end processes and reports, and delivering sales-related financial information timely and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle the complete processing of invoices and expense claims, ensuring appropriate authorizations, correct coding to creditors and General Ledger accounts, and prompt submission for payment.
- Respond to queries from creditors and staff concerning payments, resolving issues efficiently.
- Maintain reconciliation of plant costs and manage all facets of subrights, including liaising with international publishers, pursuing outstanding payments, and correctly allocating cash receipts.
- Support distribution clients through monthly reporting, reconciling accounts, verifying invoices, and calculating rebate recharges.
- Produce various internal reports such as weekly Bookscan sales, daily sales reports, and weekly key slicer summaries.
- Manage PubTrack monthly data files, support digital data uploads to Bookmaster, and complete other reporting and operational tasks to assist the finance team.
Candidate Profile
- Possess an accounting degree or minimum two years experience in a comparable accounting role.
- Experience in media sector finance or audit is highly favorable.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and communication capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate to advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software.
- Exhibit a proactive, self-motivated approach, able to work independently with meticulous attention to detail and robust problem-solving aptitude.
- Possess analytical skills and sound judgment, coupled with a willingness to question existing workflows and suggest enhancements.
Employment Conditions
This role is full-time and permanent with a hybrid working model currently in place. Candidates must be willing to attend the Sydney office at least once per week.
