Role Overview
We are seeking candidates to join Orica as Heavy Vehicle Operators specializing in operating Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMUs). These are advanced Heavy Rigid vehicles equipped with cutting-edge technologies and onboard computer systems, primarily used to pump explosive materials into pre-drilled blast holes at quarry sites.
Work Location and Schedule
Based at Stockton Mine in the Buller Coalfield near Westport, New Zealand, the role works on a shift roster of 7 days on and 7 days off, with 12-hour shifts. You will become part of a cohesive, high-performing team committed to safety and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate MMU vehicles and related blasting equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with routine preventative maintenance tasks on machinery.
- Contribute to the direct delivery of explosive products into pre-drilled blast holes on benches.
- Collaborate closely with team members to uphold high service standards for customers.
- Lead by example in prioritizing safety in all operations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possess a current Heavy Rigid (HR) Class 4 driver's licence; candidates with a minimum Class 2 licence will also be considered.
- Ability to successfully complete all necessary security checks to obtain a Dangerous Goods licence.
- Basic mechanical understanding is advantageous but not mandatory.
