We are collaborating with an innovative European defence start-up specializing in autonomous aerial systems designed for military, emergency response, and critical infrastructure sectors. These advanced technologies enhance situational awareness, expedite decision-making, and empower frontline teams in challenging environments.
Role Summary
The Head of Business Development will lead the company's commercial strategy by fostering vital relationships, partnerships, and opportunities that transform proven technologies into operational capabilities. Close collaboration with the founding team is essential, leveraging deep knowledge of military operations, procurement mechanisms, and defence markets to drive growth and increase market footprint.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete sales pipeline, including forecasting and maintaining commercial transparency
- Oversee opportunities from initial contact through to proposals, negotiation phases, and contract finalization
- Establish and sustain high-level connections with defence stakeholders such as armed forces, procurement entities, ministries, and industry collaborators
- Forge strategic partnerships and framework agreements within the defence sector
- Coordinate with international agents and support operational fieldwork, demonstrations, and customer interactions
- Represent the company at significant defence industry exhibitions, exercises, and forums
- Enhance visibility among military units by engaging with exercises and operational networks
- Collaborate directly with company founders to spot strategic growth opportunities and expedite expansion
Candidate Profile
- Previous service in the Bundeswehr with a transition to the defence industry
- Robust network within the German armed forces, BAAINBw, and broader European defence ecosystems
- Comprehensive insight into military decision-making, operational needs, and defence customer engagement
- Proven experience engaging government or defence bodies and adeptness in complex procurement processes
- Expertise in cultivating trustful relationships with senior military and defence personnel
- Technical aptitude to discuss hardware and software solutions confidently with operators and procurement teams
- Proficiency in German and fluent in English at a business level
