About the Role
Our client is developing one of the most advanced commercial launch vehicles, and they seek a Head of Avionics Manufacturing to lead the team that transforms pioneering designs into flight-ready electronic systems. This senior role goes beyond traditional manufacturing leadership, focusing on creating capabilities, fostering strong teams, and implementing production systems to support the shift from development to full-scale manufacturing operations essential for upcoming launch missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all avionics manufacturing activities from prototyping to high-rate production.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across manufacturing engineering, production operations, and test engineering functions.
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), wiring harnesses, and integrated avionics hardware.
- Formulate manufacturing strategies to enhance quality, operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate closely with design engineering and other stakeholders to ensure products facilitate efficient manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
- Drive performance improvements utilizing data analytics, metrics, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Introduce automation and digital manufacturing technologies to boost throughput and consistency.
- Ensure production meets schedule, quality standards, and delivery targets.
- Champion a culture of safety, accountability, innovation, and ongoing learning.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience within complex, high-reliability manufacturing environments, such as aerospace, defense, satellite technologies, or automotive industries.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience managing engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Proven expertise in manufacturing high-reliability electronic hardware.
- Comprehensive knowledge of PCB assembly, electronic integration, wire harness production, and electro-mechanical assembly processes.
- Experience in establishing or scaling manufacturing organizations and operations.
- Strong background in operational excellence, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement techniques.
- Ability to foster cross-functional alignment among engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality departments.
