Job description

Work Schedule and Environment

The role follows a standard Monday to Friday schedule. The position involves physical tasks such as lifting up to 40 pounds without assistance and adherence to strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) safety standards. Work is conducted in cleanroom settings requiring no use of hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, or facial hair. The environment may include loud noises from equipment, warehouse settings, and working at heights. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gowns, gloves, lab coats, and earplugs is required.

Job Summary

The Facility Cleaner II is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in common manufacturing and warehouse areas in compliance with GMP guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily cleaning for production, laboratory, warehouse, office, and washroom areas following Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain general areas by dusting, cleaning windows, polishing fixtures, and addressing customer requests related to cleaning, waste disposal, and moving tasks promptly.
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling services efficiently.
  • Accurately complete and sign GMP cleaning records and related documentation.
  • Ensure all facility dispensers such as paper, soap, and production garments are regularly restocked.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
  • Lead and execute facility projects including stripping and waxing floors, and cleaning air diffusers and exhaust grills.
  • Handle disposal of waste collected from dust collectors.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by identifying and reporting potential hazards.
  • Perform shift work that may rotate or alternate as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of janitorial experience is required; experience in GMP, pharmaceutical or food processing environments is preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may also be considered.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to maintain precise records of activities.
  • Self-driven with ability to operate with minimum supervision.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and strong command of English.

Physical and Safety Requirements

  • Ability to move around manufacturing and office environments comfortably including standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift, carry, and handle materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling equipment and documentation.
  • Visual acuity to operate equipment and conduct reading tasks for prolonged periods.
  • Exposure to elements causing moderate discomfort including dust, noise, bright lights, fumes, or odors.
  • Use of PPE such as safety glasses, shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair nets, beard covers, aprons, and respirators as necessary.

Compensation

The yearly salary range estimated for this position in Ontario is between $36,608 and $54,550.
