Role Overview
The ER Registrar plays a crucial role in supporting patient care by accurately gathering demographic and insurance information via both face-to-face and telephone communications, facilitating an efficient registration process.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate scheduling of procedures, secure necessary authorizations, and organize patient records systematically.
- Confirm insurance eligibility, document insurance information, and aid in addressing insurance-related inquiries.
- Collect patient payments such as co-pays or deductibles, clearly inform patients about their financial obligations, and assist with insurance procedures.
- Assemble registration paperwork and verify the thorough completion of medical records.
- Apply patient identification wristbands and properly file consent documentation.
- Provide courteous and professional responses to patient questions.
- Support operational duties including insurance verification and scheduling management.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information, adhere to company policies, and maintain dependable attendance.
Qualifications & Skills
- Preferably holds post-secondary education in healthcare administration.
- Has between zero and two years of experience in healthcare or customer service environments.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance verification processes, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Exhibits strong attention to detail, precision, and effective communication skills.
