We currently have an urgent vacancy for an Education Senior Counsel with a preference for candidates possessing at least eight years of relevant experience. Although we consider applicants for any of our physical locations or our virtual office, The Link, the position mandates an active bar license in the state of employment or a commitment to obtain one promptly. This opportunity is not part of a partnership track.
Key Responsibilities and Experience Required
The successful candidate should have proven expertise advising educational institutions—private, religious, and public—at all levels, with an emphasis on K-12 education and educational service providers. Key duties include providing guidance on education regulatory matters, operational challenges, and employment law aspects. Experience handling state and federal government complaints and familiarity with regulations such as FERPA, Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, EPA, ADA, Section 504, IDEA, and ADEA is highly desired.
Additional valuable experience includes counseling schools across different states on licensing, accreditation, and compliance with operational regulations.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent academic credentials and a strong community commitment. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, superior interpersonal abilities, sound judgment, and capacity to manage multiple projects under pressure are essential. The ability to clearly explain legal strategies and advise clients effectively will be required.
Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
We value diversity, equity, and inclusion, believing these attributes drive better outcomes. We are dedicated to recruiting, retaining, and advancing attorneys and professionals from diverse backgrounds, fostering a collaborative and accountable culture.

We provide competitive salary packages and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, and 401(k) plans. For applicants based in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Washington state, Washington, D.C., and Vermont, salaries range from $250,000 to $325,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation in other locations will reflect local market conditions.
Application Process
Candidates are invited to submit their resume and law school transcripts through the firm's application system.
