Role Overview

ALOIS UK is looking for an experienced Data Engineer with 5 to 7 years of expertise to join our Dublin office. The position involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and data warehouse systems primarily on AWS, with a focus on Amazon Redshift. The role requires collaborative work with data architects, analysts, and business teams across various industries including investment banking.

Key Responsibilities

Design and maintain batch and near-real-time data pipelines using AWS technologies.
Construct and optimize data ingestion and transformation workflows targeting Amazon Redshift.
Create scalable ETL/ELT processes using Python and SQL.
Integrate data from disparate source systems across business domains.
Develop and manage Redshift data models, tables, and views.
Enhance Redshift performance through distribution style, sort keys, and query tuning techniques.
Perform data validation, reconciliation, and maintain quality assurance checks.
Leverage AWS services including S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, and IAM for data solutions.
Work with Snowflake for analytics and data downstream integration.
Ensure the security, scalability, and cost efficiency of data architectures.
Collaborate with data architects and modelers to implement approved designs.
Engage with analysts and business units to gather data requirements.
Provide support for production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement continuous improvements.

Required Skills & Experience

5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in data engineering or data warehousing.
Experience working in multiple business domains.
In-depth knowledge of Amazon Redshift.
Expert level proficiency in SQL for complex data transformations and analytics.
Strong programming skills in Python for ETL, data processing, and automation tasks.
Practical experience with Snowflake including data modeling and querying.
Familiarity with AWS data services.
Solid understanding of ETL/ELT design patterns and pipeline development.
Experience managing data quality and monitoring pipelines along with error handling.
Knowledge of dimensional and analytical data models.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
Effective communication and ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within team environments.

Nice to Have

Experience using orchestration tools such as Airflow or AWS Step Functions.
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
Background in financial services or regulated sectors.

Additional Information

Work will be conducted onsite at the Dublin office. Candidates will go through three rounds of interviews as part of the selection process.
