Overview
This role at Cro Metrics involves producing high-impact, conversion-focused copy tailored primarily for nonprofit and mission-driven organizations. Operating remotely within the U.S., the Copywriter will generate content for paid ads, landing pages, experiments, email, and SMS campaigns, with a strong emphasis on donor acquisition, fundraising initiatives, and messaging that drives engagement and conversions.
Responsibilities
- Craft compelling donor-centered copy including donation pages, fundraising appeals, lifecycle emails, and campaign messages aligned with fundraising calendars.
- Develop paid media advertisement text across platforms such as Meta, Google, and LinkedIn, focusing on headlines and descriptions that encourage clicks and donations.
- Produce landing page content from briefs and collaborate with designers to align messaging and design.
- Create conversion-oriented copy variants for A/B tests that support clear strategic hypotheses.
- Compose email and SMS marketing copy for donor lifecycle journeys including welcome flows, abandoned carts, win-backs, and promotional sends.
- Analyze test results to refine underperforming content, offering data-informed recommendations.
- Quickly adapt to diverse client brand voices, maintaining authenticity, trust, and urgency critical to nonprofit communication.
- Work closely with strategists and other creatives to integrate copy within broader marketing experiments and campaigns.
- Handle multiple client projects efficiently while maintaining clear communication about workload and deadlines.
- Leverage AI tools to expedite content creation and develop customized brand-specific AI writing agents ensuring voice consistency and quality.
Qualifications
- Between 2 to 4+ years of experience in conversion copywriting, direct-response, CRO copy, or performance marketing with a focus on nonprofits or mission-driven organizations.
- Proven portfolio showcasing tested copy for paid ads, landing pages, headlines, and email campaigns with strategic foundations.
- Strong ability to quickly absorb and authentically reproduce various brand voices.
- Strategic mindset with solid understanding of what drives conversion beyond mere aesthetics.
- High productivity and ability to generate numerous quality variants rapidly without sacrificing strategy or clarity.
- Excellent communication skills demonstrating proactive engagement with briefs and clear rationale for copy choices.
- Self-starting, reliable with consistent time management and deadline adherence.
- Essential experience using AI tools daily and building/managing brand-specific AI writing agents tailored to client voice and needs.
- Background working in agency or multi-client settings managing competing priorities and fast turnaround times.

Compensation and Terms
- Independent contractor (1099) position operating on a remote basis within the U.S.
- Hourly rate ranges from $60 to $80, dependent on experience and assignment scope.
- Contract does not include employee benefits; contractor responsible for own tax obligations.
- Exclusions: Candidates from CA, AK, WA, OR, HI, NY, NJ or outside the U.S. cannot be hired.
