About the Role
Are you ready to transition from working in a commercial kitchen to nurturing the talents of New Zealand's upcoming hospitality professionals? We invite experienced culinary practitioners holding at least a Level 6 Cookery qualification to join us in delivering Level 5 cookery programmes. If you lack formal teaching experience but have a strong passion for sharing your culinary expertise and supporting learner growth, we provide comprehensive professional development to enhance your teaching abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct engaging lessons combining theoretical and practical cookery training.
- Design and deliver classes aligned with programme standards and requirements.
- Assess student progress regularly, giving constructive feedback and academic assistance.
- Create and modify learning materials to facilitate student success.
- Assist students in developing practical culinary, workplace, and employability skills.
- Participate in curriculum development, moderation activities, and ongoing programme improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Diploma or Degree in Cookery or equivalent Level 6 qualification.
- Prior professional experience in commercial kitchen environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of culinary techniques, food safety protocols, kitchen operations, and menu planning.
- Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for mentoring and developing others.
- Ability and willingness to pursue Adult Education qualifications (Level 4 or higher) and Unit Standard 4098 with support during employment.
