Overview
The role involves conducting thorough civil and structural inspections aligned with approved plans, technical specifications, and authority guidelines. The Civil Inspector ensures the quality and compliance of various construction activities on site.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections on civil and structural elements including excavation, reinforcement, formwork, concrete works, blockwork, plastering, screeding, waterproofing supports, and associated civil tasks as per approved documents and procedures.
- Review Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) to confirm readiness for inspection before endorsement or remarks from the Supervision Consultant.
- Carry out preliminary evaluations of shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, and related technical documents under guidance from the Resident Engineer, providing feedback for further review.
- Verify incoming materials on site against approved Material Inspection Requests (MIRs), specifications, and sample approvals, reporting any deviations.
- Oversee workmanship quality, alignment, levels, tolerance adherence, protection measures, curing processes, testing protocols, and ensure conformity to approved procedures.
- Collaborate with the contractor’s site management and testing laboratories to arrange for sampling, testing, and maintain proper inspection documentation.
- Detect and report any defects, quality issues, or unsafe practices directly to the Resident Engineer promptly.
- Maintain comprehensive daily records including site reports, inspection notes, photographic evidence, progress updates, and tracking the resolution of comments, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), snags, and inspection findings from the Supervision Consultant.
