Role Overview
The Senior Operations Staff is tasked with carrying out daily operational functions across Blue Dart’s Service Centres, Hubs, Warehouses, and Processing Units. Responsibilities focus on ensuring high shipment accuracy, operational efficiency, and service quality. This role supports Shift In-charges by managing work allocation, mentoring newly hired employees, resolving operational exceptions, and enforcing adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The position requires maintaining operational discipline and promoting consistent execution standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute receiving, segregation, sorting, scanning, bagging, tagging, and shipment processing.
- Assist with loading and unloading shipments ensuring safe handling practices.
- Ensure correct shipment routing and prevent errors or mis-sorts.
- Perform shipment reconciliation and manifest verification tasks.
- Maintain operational continuity during peak periods and contingencies.
- Enter operational data and update shipment statuses through company systems.
- Verify shipment labels, manifests, and associated documentation.
- Maintain accurate records and report discrepancies promptly.
- Comply strictly with Blue Dart’s SOPs to assure quality and minimize handling errors.
- Identify and help implement improvements in operational efficiency.
- Assist in training and supporting newly inducted operations staff.
- Work closely with Shift In-charges to coordinate daily operation activities and balance team workload.
- Adhere to safety, security standards and promptly report incidents or unsafe conditions.
- Maintain professional grooming, punctuality, workplace cleanliness and represent Blue Dart values.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational readiness for business growth.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum educational qualification: pass in 10th Standard; higher qualification preferred.
- 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in logistics, express distribution, warehousing, courier operations, or supply chain.
- Experience in shipment processing, sorting, scanning, and warehouse management advantageous.
- Familiarity with handheld scanners and warehouse management systems is a plus.
Applicant Eligibility
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old and physically fit for standing, walking, and manual shipment handling.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts including weekends and holidays is required.
- Basic reading and communication skills in English.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to use handheld scanner or mobile applications.
- Strong understanding of operational discipline and commitment to process compliance.
