Role Overview
The Recreation Assistant is responsible for encouraging guest participation in recreational activities by recruiting, registering, and scheduling attendees. This role fosters a lively and enjoyable atmosphere while informing guests about the recreation facilities and available activities. Additionally, the Recreation Assistant ensures guests adhere to facility rules to promote safety and well-being, responds to emergencies according to procedures, and alerts supervisors if guests are unable to participate safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote guest involvement in recreation programs and maintain a pleasant environment.
- Communicate facility rules and observe activities for safety compliance and emergencies.
- Maintain and clean recreational equipment and supplies regularly.
- Report incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management promptly.
- Complete required safety trainings and certifications.
- Adhere to company policies, maintain professional appearance, and safeguard confidential information and assets.
- Welcome guests warmly, anticipate service needs, assist guests with disabilities, and provide professional communication.
- Develop positive relationships with team members and collaborate to achieve shared goals.
- Process transactions for equipment rentals, activity fees, facility usage, or retail sales using point of sale systems.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
- Read and verify diverse types of information and visually inspect equipment for defects.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 pounds unaided and heavier objects with assistance, manipulating equipment requiring fine motor skills, and moving safely across various terrains and environments.
- Carry out additional reasonable duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) preferred.
- No prior work or supervisory experience required.
Mandatory Certifications
- Current CPR Certification.
- Current First Aid Certification.
- Licenses or training mandated by local or state authorities regarding recreational equipment use.
