Overview

Join Nelson Tasman Hospice as a Logistics Lead to manage the new Donation & Distribution Centre (DDC), which supports our network of Hospice retail outlets by overseeing the flow of donated goods. This hands-on leadership role involves coaching staff and volunteers, refining operational workflows, and maintaining high standards of health and safety in a values-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily functions of the DDC, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Support, mentor, and develop a diverse team of staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain rigorous health, safety, and wellbeing standards.
  • Ensure a positive experience for donors at every interaction.
  • Coordinate all facets of donated item movement from collection to final distribution.
  • Supervise donation pick-ups, deliveries, and fleet vehicle activities.
  • Manage workflow and prioritize tasks effectively across a seven-day schedule.
  • Foster strong collaboration with Hospice teams and Retail Leads.
  • Drive continuous improvements in processes and service excellence.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a minimum of three years managing people, resources, and operations.
  • Experience in logistics, distribution, or fleet coordination is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Strong communication expertise and relationship-building skills.
  • Practical and cooperative leadership style focused on teamwork and continuous enhancement.
  • Commitment to safety, collaboration, and ongoing process improvement.
  • Possession of a full New Zealand Driver Licence is mandatory.
