About the Role

City College Dublin invites applications for a part-time Lecturer position to teach the IT Essentials module. The college is committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive educational environment that supports and empowers every member of its community. We seek a passionate and knowledgeable IT professional or educator to deliver engaging, practical, and industry-relevant instruction that equips students with vital digital and technical competencies.

Position Details

  • Location: On-campus teaching at South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2
  • Contract Type: Part-time
  • Duration: One 12-week semester
  • Weekly Teaching Hours: 5 hours during daytime
  • Class Schedule: Fridays from 11:50 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Start Date: Week commencing 7th September 2026

  • Introduction to the Evolution of ICT
  • Fundamentals of Information Systems
  • Microsoft Office ECDL Certification preparation
  • ICT Security Essentials
  • Digital Multimedia Concepts

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a postgraduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field
  • Relevant practical or industry experience in IT support, systems administration, networking, cybersecurity, or associated technical areas
  • Comprehensive technical expertise in computer hardware, operating systems, networking, and troubleshooting
  • High level of digital literacy with competence in incorporating modern technologies into teaching methods
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, student-focused approach devoted to enhancing learner engagement, academic progression, and employability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in lecturing, teaching, or professional training roles
  • Experience with delivering IT Essentials, Computer Hardware, Networking, or comparable technology courses in higher education or vocational training settings
  • Possession of relevant industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft certifications, or equivalents
