Role Overview

The Geographer will support spatial data analysis and cartographic activities related to geographic information systems (GIS). Responsibilities include gathering imagery and spatial information from diverse sources, processing and entering data into GIS platforms, multi-layer mapping, and maintaining geo-referenced databases. This role involves constant learning through professional development events to stay current with GIS technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect imagery and spatial data from local to federal agencies, private firms, military venues, and engineering organizations.
  • Input and create data, perform geoprocessing, and manage map/tabular datasets within GIS platforms.
  • Develop multi-layer maps, edit and verify map data accuracy, and produce map-based reports.
  • Maintain and develop simple spatial and relational geo-referenced databases.
  • Support the implementation of database designs, data standards, dictionaries, map libraries, and data validation mechanisms.
  • Engage in seminars, trainings, and professional workshops to advance GIS skills and knowledge.

Mandatory Requirements and Qualifications
