Job description
Role Overview
This position requires serving as the dedicated finance business partner embedded within Operations, offering financial leadership and strategic guidance to venue management teams. The role focuses on driving profitability and enhancing cost efficiency across various entertainment venues.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the profit and loss performance of assigned venues by reviewing financial results, analyzing multiple revenue sources including ticket sales, food and beverage, retail, and attractions, overseeing operating expenses, and initiating actions to meet EBITDA and profitability goals.
- Act as a trusted financial advisor to venue and operations managers, engage in operational planning, convert financial data into practical insights, and influence decision-making proactively rather than merely validating numbers.
- Examine operational performance through key metrics such as per capita spending, attendance compared to forecasts, revenue per visitor, labor cost ratios, and food and beverage margins, suggesting strategies for enhancement.
- Collaborate with venue management to prepare accurate budgets and forecasts, factoring in seasonal trends, event scheduling, and operational capacity, while analyzing variances and recommending adjustments.
- Identify and implement measures to optimize costs without compromising guest experience by analyzing labor scheduling, monitoring vendor expenses, and driving cost control initiatives alongside operations leadership.
- Ensure adherence to financial controls by supervising cash handling at venues, tracking inventory and shrinkage, maintaining compliance with financial policies, and assisting in internal and external audits related to operational areas.
- Lead and develop the operations finance team by establishing clear goals for finance analysts, providing mentoring and coaching, and fostering a high-performance culture that adds value to the business.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Management Accountant (preferred) and Certified Public Accountant (advantageous).
- At least 6 to 7 years of relevant finance experience with strong exposure to operations or business partnering functions.
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience managing finance professionals.
- Preferred industry background in entertainment, hospitality, leisure, or multi-unit retail operations.
