About the Role
The Digital Content Creator is responsible for supporting content planning, production, and distribution across multiple digital platforms — including video, podcasts, and other multimedia. This position plays a vital role in extending the voice of counties nationwide and highlighting the priorities of NACo through engaging storytelling and technical expertise in multimedia content.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality video, podcast, and digital content consistently, including conceptualizing, scripting, filming, editing, animating, and distributing final materials.
- Conduct and direct on-camera interviews, voiceovers, and live recording sessions.
- Collaborate with various departments to enhance campaigns, programs, and events utilizing video and audio storytelling techniques.
- Develop storyboards, scripts, interview questions, and detailed production plans for multimedia projects.
- Edit and package content tailored to multiple channels, including social media-focused videos and motion graphics.
- Manage and maintain all production equipment such as video, audio, lighting for both onsite and in-studio usage.
- Recommend technological improvements to advance NACo’s production capabilities when necessary.
- Ensure brand consistency in tone, style, and quality across all multimedia products.
- Follow best practices for file management, metadata tagging, and archiving for digital assets.
- Support content capture at NACo’s conferences and events, handling interviews, live sessions, and highlight reels.
- Participate in pre-event planning and organize logistics such as equipment setup, lighting, and sound.
- Rapidly edit and publish video content post-events to increase audience engagement and maintain timeliness.
- Contribute to audience growth efforts by refining SEO, boosting engagement, and assisting social media teams by analyzing analytics to improve content strategy.
- Lead the creation of style guides for video and podcast packaging covering branding, aspect ratios, and best practice standards for different media formats.
- Work with digital and communications teams to cross-promote content on NACo’s website, email newsletters, and social media channels.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Film, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related discipline.
- Three to five years of professional experience in video, podcast, or multimedia production roles.
- Demonstrable portfolio showing work in video production, podcasting, and digital animation developed in in-house, agency, or media settings.
- Proficiency with video and audio production software including Adobe Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Strong understanding of digital storytelling principles, audience engagement strategies, and platform optimization across YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, LinkedIn, etc.
- Excellent storytelling ability, keen visual creativity, and strong attention to detail.
- Effective project management capabilities and ability to multitask efficiently.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including scriptwriting and interviewing expertise.
- Familiarity with local government or public policy topics is advantageous.
- Experience with professional photography is a plus.
Location and Travel
This is a remote or hybrid position but requires travel for NACo conferences, meetings, and partner events.
Compensation
The annual salary range is $70,000 to $85,000, dependent on experience.
