Role Overview
Join our team as a Bakery Chef where you will spearhead the creation of fresh, delightful baked specialties across various venues, including breakfast offerings, artisan breads, plated desserts, and banquet treats. Your role combines creativity, technical proficiency, and consistent quality delivery every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the production process of baking, finishing, and presenting assorted breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts.
- Standardize and develop recipes, portion sizes, and presentation details for all outlets, room service, and banquets.
- Maintain product quality with consistent taste, texture, and visual appeal throughout all shifts.
- Organize daily production schedules, estimate expected yields, and manage mise en place preparations to ensure demand is met.
- Supervise, train, and mentor members of the bakery team, delegating assignments while upholding performance benchmarks.
- Enforce strict food safety, sanitation, and allergen control policies in line with local regulations.
- Oversee ingredient inventory, manage food costs, minimize waste, and assist in procurement and stock management.
- Collaborate with various departments including outlets, banquet coordinators, and culinary leadership for menu planning, special occasions, and dietary requirements.
- Create and innovate seasonal and promotional bakery items to elevate guest satisfaction and increase revenue.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, Patisserie, Bakery, or similar field preferred, or comparable professional experience.
- Between 2 to 5 years of professional bakery or pastry experience, with supervisory experience being advantageous.
- Proficient technical skills in baking a diverse range of breads, viennoiserie, pastries, and plated desserts.
- Understanding of food safety protocols and ability to maintain necessary local certifications and permits.
- Competency in interpreting recipes, scaling production efficiently, and performing basic food cost calculations.
- Strong organizational, time management, leadership skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills in the local language, with additional languages considered beneficial.
