Job Overview
The Admissions Coordinator at Georgetown Behavioral Health Institute plays a key role in facilitating the admission process, with a particular focus on securing prior authorizations for all admissions within a 24-hour timeframe, Monday through Friday. This position supports the therapeutic environment by ensuring smooth patient intake procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of the admissions process.
- Greet and assist patients, employees, and visitors as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least two years of experience in a medical-related field is necessary.
- Prior experience of two years with medical prior authorizations is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to maintain concentration despite distractions such as noise, conversations, and foot traffic.
- Flexibility in work hours to meet patient and organizational demands.
- Proficient reading and writing skills equivalent to high school level; clear and legible communication both oral and written.
- Strong customer service skills when interacting face-to-face with patients, public, and staff.
- Effective time management to prioritize and complete tasks within mandated deadlines.
- Ability to multitask to ensure timely completion of work duties.
- Understanding of procedure authorizations and their effect on the revenue cycle of the practice.
- Knowledge of payer medical policy guidelines to manage authorizations efficiently.
- Proficiency in computer applications including Excel, Word, and internet usage.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, clear and effective.
