About the Role

This opportunity is for a Software Architect to operate across multiple engineering teams in a portfolio-style role focused on architecture, technical leadership, and engineering support.

This is a practical architecture position rather than a purely strategic one. The company is seeking someone with a strong software engineering background who still enjoys working close to current technologies, delivery teams, and engineering standards.

You’ll work alongside engineers, tech leads, and product stakeholders to shape solutions, influence architectural direction, improve team practices, and help deliver scalable backend systems. While this is not a day-to-day coding role, you will need enough technical depth to challenge ideas, contribute to solution design, and provide clear technical guidance.

The environment is heavily involved in development work and centred on distributed systems, integrations, and transactional platforms.

This role is well suited to someone who has grown from a Tech Lead or Principal Engineer path and has already operated in a broader architecture capacity across multiple initiatives or teams.

Skills and Experience

• Background as a Senior Software Engineer, Tech Lead, or Principal Engineer
• Proven experience in designing and delivering scalable end-to-end architectures
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS in modern cloud-native environments
• Experience working across several teams or large-scale platforms
• Solid understanding of backend architecture and distributed systems
• Practical experience with Node.js and JavaScript
• Exposure to Kubernetes or other containerised environments
• Familiarity with tools and services such as Elasticsearch, Redis, Lambda, S3, Postgres, and DynamoDB
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to mentor engineers and shape technical direction
• Experience in transactional, ecommerce, finance, or high-volume data environments is highly valued

Compensation and Working Arrangements

The role offers a salary of $175k+ plus a 10% bonus and superannuation. The position is based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and follows a hybrid working model. No start date, application deadline, number of openings, or contract duration was specified.
