Job Overview
As a Medical Scribe, you will work closely alongside physicians documenting patient encounters in real-time. This involves capturing detailed patient histories, examinations, test results, and prescriptions while allowing doctors to concentrate on patient care. Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with physicians during patient visits to record detailed notes.
- Document medical histories, physical exams, and treatments.
- Utilize electronic health record systems for accurate data entry.
- Monitor and manage lab and diagnostic test outcomes.
- Adhere strictly to HIPAA and other privacy requirements to maintain record confidentiality.
- Maintain up-to-date and precise patient charts.
- Organize and submit documents for physician review efficiently.
- Assist healthcare teams with lab result tracking and follow-up processes.
- Contribute to the smooth operational flow of clinical settings.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
- Be at least 16 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Provide proof of vaccinations if required by the site.
- Demonstrate typing proficiency with speeds of at least 40 words per minute.
- Exhibit strong English language skills in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Show excellent listening and communication abilities.
- Maintain a flexible schedule and availability to work varied shifts.
- Be able to stand, sit, and operate a computer for extended periods.
- Have access to a personal laptop for training purposes; a laptop will be provided post-training.
Work Environment and Scheduling
The role is based onsite in diverse healthcare settings, ranging from outpatient physician offices to emergency departments. Assignments will align with your scheduling preferences and location. Typical schedules for outpatient offices are weekday daytime hours, with some evening or weekend opportunities. Emergency departments offer 24/7 flexible shifts.
- Shift durations are generally about 8 hours but might vary per site.
- Full-time and part-time options available, with part-time consisting of 2-3 shifts per week and full-time ranging from 3-4 shifts per week.
- Sample shift times include 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM, 6:00 PM - 2:00 AM, and 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
