Position Overview

As a Medical Scribe, you will work closely alongside physicians during patient consultations to accurately document details in real time. Your responsibilities include recording medical histories, physical exams, treatment plans, test results, and prescriptions, allowing doctors to concentrate fully on patient care.

Primary Duties

• Support physicians by documenting patient encounters thoroughly and promptly.
• Input data into electronic health record (EHR) systems with precision.
• Track laboratory and diagnostic test results and update patient charts accordingly.
• Adhere strictly to HIPAA and relevant confidentiality regulations to ensure patient information security.
• Organize and prepare clinical documents for physician review.
• Assist healthcare teams by monitoring labs and facilitating timely follow-ups.
• Contribute to the efficient functioning of clinical operations.

Work Environment

Medical Scribes are placed on-site across various settings including outpatient physician offices and emergency departments, with schedules aligned to your availability and preferences. Typical outpatient hours align with weekdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, including some evening or weekend shifts. Emergency department positions offer 24/7 coverage, providing flexibility suitable for balancing work with academic or personal commitments.

Schedule Possibilities

• Part-time: 2–3 shifts weekly
• Full-time: 3–4 shifts weekly
• Standard shifts last approximately 8 hours but may differ based on location requirements.
• Example shifts include Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Candidate Qualifications

• Possess a high school diploma or an equivalent credential.
• Be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Provide proof of required immunizations, if applicable.
• Demonstrate a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
• Fluent proficiency in English across reading, writing, and speaking capabilities.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Availability to work flexible schedules as needed.
• Physical capability to stand or sit and operate a computer for extended periods.
• Own access to a laptop computer for training purposes; a laptop will be provided after onboarding.
