Position Overview

We are seeking a Lead Hand based in Nova Scotia. The primary responsibility is to conduct routine cleaning and maintenance of shopping mall facilities and surrounding areas to ensure a safe, hygienic environment. This role involves physical tasks and requires familiarity with janitorial duties including mopping, wall cleaning, and operation of cleaning equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute a comprehensive range of janitorial tasks, including mopping floors and cleaning walls.
  • Carry out semi-skilled and skilled duties across other trades as necessary.
  • Perform additional assignments as required under contract terms.
  • Utilize knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment effectively.
  • Apply safe handling and proper use of a variety of chemicals in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Manage disposal procedures for hazardous materials and blood-borne pathogens responsibly.

Required Qualifications

  • Practical understanding of building maintenance, cleaning techniques, supplies, and use of equipment.
  • Competency in safely handling a wide spectrum of cleaning chemicals aligned with relevant legal standards.
  • Acquaintance with protocols for disposal of hazardous substances and blood-borne pathogens.
