Overview
Join Mars as the Chief Customer Officer for trü frü, reporting directly to the CEO, and play a pivotal role in steering the sales function as part of the larger Accelerator Sales Leadership team. This strategic position drives the company's ambitious $1 billion revenue goal by enhancing and expanding the sales team, deepening client engagement, and embedding customer insights into strategic initiatives. You will lead trü frü’s go-to-market strategy across diverse channels such as retail, out-of-home, and digital commerce, strengthen the brand presence in Canada, and capitalize on Mars Snacking's expansive resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and execute a comprehensive sales strategy that ensures sustained, quality growth aiming for $1 billion revenue.
- Lead and develop the sales team by fostering a culture focused on accountability, coaching, and continuous professional growth.
- Drive results across multiple sales channels including retail, out-of-home, digital commerce, and specifically in the Canadian market.
- Oversee Digital Commerce initiatives including Pure Play platforms, Amazon, and social selling to integrate eCommerce firmly within the commercial plan.
- Expand the Out-of-Home sales channel by leveraging Mars Accelerator resources and nurturing customer partnerships.
- Collaborate closely with Canadian sales leadership to tailor and scale commercial strategies for local growth.
- Act as a category leader by using insights and compelling storytelling to strengthen strategic customer partnerships.
- Contribute to Strategic Revenue Management through pricing and pack architecture strategies.
- Implement and optimize trade investment strategies ensuring maximum return across accounts and channels.
- Negotiate at senior customer levels to foster long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationships.
- Develop an omnichannel consumer experience linking in-store execution, route-to-market, and online growth.
- Align cross-functional teams including Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain to maintain customer focus and execute business plans efficiently.
- Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership incorporating the customer perspective in key decisions.
- Ensure customer insights shape innovation, product development, market entry, and commercial strategies.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of executive leadership experience in business growth within CPG or related sectors.
- Proven success in scaling emerging brands delivering consistent, high-quality growth.
- Expert knowledge of Digital Commerce sales encompassing Pure Play, Amazon, and social selling channels.
- Strong expertise in trade investment strategy and budgeting across complex customer portfolios.
- Experience managing major customer negotiations and cultivating strategic partnerships.
- Proficient in category leadership using data-driven insights and storytelling to influence customer decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business, or equivalent fields required.
- Demonstrated ability in innovating and implementing multichannel sales strategies including route-to-market and retail execution.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- MBA or advanced business degree preferred.
- Familiarity with developing and growing the Canadian market including localized commercial strategies and customer engagement.
- Experience in international sales or marketing is advantageous.
