Position Overview

The Associate Producer role involves assisting Media and Supervising Producers in crafting 10-20 minute videos primarily for YouTube. This entry-level position is suited for candidates with 1-3 years of relevant experience who are eager to enhance their research, reporting, and video production skills. Responsibilities include maintaining project organization and timelines, supporting factual accuracy checks, quality assurance, production logistics, footage management, and contributing to early drafting stages throughout production.

Key Duties

  • Collaborate with producers across all production phases to create news-focused video content.
  • Verify script facts including claims, data, quotations, and sources prior to release.
  • Conduct quality control on rough cuts, identifying technical, visual, copyright, and source accuracy issues.
  • Review all written materials for grammar, spelling, consistency, style, and editorial standards.
  • Coordinate with corporations, agencies, and relevant contacts for statement requests.
  • Carry out final quality checks in post-production to ensure assets meet publishing guidelines.
  • Research and engage potential interviewees, from experts to field subjects.
  • Manage archival and current raw footage and media assets efficiently.
  • Assist with basic reporting, including public comments, interviews, and freedom of information requests.
  • Attend meetings and provide notes to support production discussions and decisions.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and collaborate on improvements.
  • Conceive and present diverse story ideas that enrich coverage.
  • Meet deadlines and execute tasks as assigned in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in journalism, video production, or related environments.
  • Proficient in research, writing, copyediting, and organizational tasks.
  • Background in covering progressive political and economic subjects with knowledge of business and government policies.
  • Skilled at sourcing on-camera interview subjects and story contributors.
  • A strong commitment to economic justice causes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive under deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to function independently and collaboratively.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized.

Compensation

The salary for this full-time remote position ranges between $65,000 and $70,000 annually, available to candidates based in the United States.
