Job description
About the opportunity
Brian Perry Civil is looking for a Yard Person to join its Asset Hub in Tawa, Wellington. This is a practical, hands-on position focused on keeping plant and equipment ready for use across projects. You will work closely with machinery, help maintain an orderly and safe yard, and develop your mechanical capability within a team-oriented environment.
What you will do
- Maintain a tidy, well-organised, and safe yard environment
- Transport plant and equipment, including loading and unloading items
- Get machinery and attachments ready for dispatch to site
- Perform basic servicing tasks such as greasing, cleaning, and checking fluids
- Assist mechanics with repair and maintenance work
- Complete pre-start inspections and flag any defects or problems
What you should bring
- Previous exposure to a yard, workshop, or construction setting
- An interest in machinery and a practical, solution-focused mindset
- Good awareness of health and safety and a strong commitment to working safely
- Dependable, physically capable, and comfortable with hands-on duties
- Ability to work effectively on your own and within a team
- Forklift, WTR, or basic mechanical experience and licences will be considered an advantage
