Job description
Role Overview
Ventia is seeking a reliable Caretaker to join their Defence Base Services team at Yampi Sound Base near Derby, Western Australia. This permanent full-time position involves overseeing caretaking responsibilities, ensuring security, and supporting personnel on-site. The role includes live-in accommodation with provided housing and a company vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for subcontractors visiting the base.
- Perform administrative duties such as reporting any damage to facilities, assets, or infrastructure.
- Carry out grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, slashing, gardening, and weed control.
- Maintain fire breaks and dirt roads ensuring safety and accessibility.
- Manage rubbish removal and provide a visible security presence on the premises.
Requirements
- Hold a current Western Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Possess or be willing to obtain Senior First Aid certification.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills, especially radio communication within a team environment.
- Experience in groundskeeping, firefighting, or mechanical servicing is highly desirable.
- Must be an Australian citizen able to pass a police check.
Working Conditions & Benefits
- 38-hour work week with requirement to be on-call and on-site during after-hours and weekends when necessary.

- Annual salary package of $90,000 including superannuation.
