About the School
Bloomingdale International School (BIS) in Vijayawada is a leading educational institution focused on strong academics and the overall growth of students. The school is looking for a committed Western Dance Teacher to teach, inspire, and help students build confidence through dance.
Role Overview
This position involves teaching a range of Western dance styles, designing engaging classes, and preparing students for performances and competitions. The teacher will create a lively, safe, and inclusive environment that supports creativity, rhythm, self-expression, and discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Western dance forms to students across different age groups, including styles such as hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, ballet, salsa, and freestyle.
- Create and stage dance routines for school functions, competitions, and annual celebrations.
- Track student progress and provide individual support to improve technique and performance.
- Prepare structured lesson plans that introduce dance techniques and movement fundamentals in an organized way.
- Lead dance clubs, workshops, and after-school dance activities.
- Support the planning and execution of cultural events, inter-school contests, and annual day programs.
- Promote physical fitness, flexibility, discipline, and confidence through dance training.
- Coordinate with performing arts teachers and school leadership to align dance activities with the broader curriculum.
- Maintain a secure, energetic, and welcoming classroom environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A diploma or degree in Dance, Performing Arts, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience teaching Western dance to children and teenagers.
- Hands-on experience in choreography and stage performances.
- Comfortable teaching multiple Western dance styles.
- Strong ability to encourage and guide students effectively.
- Good communication skills and classroom management ability.
Screening Process
- Dance audition to showcase practical skill and style.
- Teaching demonstration through a sample dance class.
- Interview to assess teaching method and relevant experience.
Schedule and Work Arrangement
The role follows a day-shift schedule and requires in-person work at the Vijayawada campus. Candidates should be able to commute reliably to Vijayawada or be open to relocation with an employer-provided relocation package.
Education Preference
Diploma/Degree in Dance or Performing Arts is preferred.
Experience Preference
Dance teaching experience of 2 years is preferred. Choreography experience of 2 years is also preferred.
Language Preference
English is preferred.
