Job description

Position Overview

The Home Depot is growing its user experience function to support new initiatives. In this role, you will partner with strategists, designers, and researchers to shape complete customer journeys and uncover user needs.

This position is suited to a designer who enjoys tackling complex customer challenges. You should be comfortable using design-thinking methods to spark ideas, align stakeholders, and test concepts quickly, including low-fidelity paper prototypes. A strong appreciation for both thoughtful design and creative experimentation is important, especially in a business setting.

With a strong eye for interaction and visual quality, you will help create end-to-end experiences that support modern retail strategies. The work involves balancing customer needs with business priorities to deliver experiences that feel useful, efficient, and engaging. You should be comfortable working closely with users and applying research principles to inform better design decisions, even if you are not primarily a researcher. You will also use evaluation methods to refine and improve products over time.

In a collaborative cross-functional environment, you will work alongside researchers, designers, engineers, analysts, and product managers. Feedback is a key part of the process, and you should be able to use input from others to strengthen your work. The role also requires the ability to influence both business and product leadership, as well as individual contributors. You will act as a customer advocate, turning user insight into action, improving usability, and helping the team create experiences that delight customers. Clear communication and the ability to present a strong point of view are essential for driving sound design decisions.

  • Help execute the defined experience vision and purpose.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of business goals at both the feature and product level.
  • Continue building knowledge through active and consistent learning.
