Role overview
This contract UX Researcher position supports remote work, with an in-person requirement during the first week. The assignment runs for 5 months or longer and is intended for candidates based in or near NYC, DC, Charlotte, San Antonio, or Irvine.
The role focuses on accessibility-minded research for native mobile applications, and prior exposure to AI-powered research tools is considered a strong advantage. The work will shape digital experiences for investors, clients, financial advisors, branch-office administrators, associates, and other internal teams across the organization.

Key responsibilities
The researcher will plan and run user-centered studies that generate practical insights for products, systems, tools, applications, and business processes. This includes using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, selecting the most effective research method for each business question, and guiding stakeholders through the UX process.
The role also involves partnering with multiple teams, building trust with users and stakeholders, and helping influence product and system decisions through well-documented findings. The researcher will review data, identify patterns, support rollout efforts, track project metrics, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of digital experiences.
Additional duties include mentoring other UX researchers when needed, supporting leadership with planning and resource guidance, maintaining research repositories, and promoting ethical, inclusive participant recruitment and research practices.
Required background
Candidates should bring at least 3 years of experience in UX research or business analysis. Strong experience in participant screening and recruitment is expected, along with hands-on knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Successful applicants will be comfortable analyzing research findings, communicating clearly in writing and verbally, managing multiple priorities, and working across departments, business groups, and vendors. The role also calls for solid critical thinking, relationship-building, process improvement, project management, and organizational skills.
Applicants should be adaptable, open to feedback, able to present ideas persuasively, and viewed as credible and trustworthy. Ongoing self-development in research methods, tools, and technology is also important.
Additional notes
This role is part of a matrixed environment where creativity, collaboration, negotiation, and influence are essential. The researcher will be expected to help guide decision-making, support strategy, and contribute to complex UX initiatives that may affect a large user base.
Experience with accessibility research, native mobile apps, and AI-enabled research tools will strengthen a candidate’s fit for the position.
