This permanent full-time position averages 38 hours per week and sits within the Parks Services team. It is a practical, hands-on role focused on keeping parks, reserves, and streetscapes in excellent condition through turf maintenance work.
What the role involves
You will follow daily work schedules and carry out turf-care tasks such as mowing, edging, whipper snipping, and related maintenance duties. A key part of the job is operating turf equipment safely, maintaining plant and machinery, and consistently producing quality results.
The position also calls for a strong sense of initiative, the ability to work effectively on your own or as part of a small crew, and good interpersonal skills when coordinating with others.
Selection criteria
- Current Construction Industry Training (White Card).
- Ability to self-manage, work well in a team, or complete tasks independently when directed.
- Capacity to follow workplace health and safety obligations relevant to the industry.
- Proven experience maintaining and safely using a range of parks, gardens, and turf-related tools and equipment.
Pay and benefits
The role is paid at a weekly gross wage of $1,466, and this amount already includes allowances and penalty rates.
- 12% employer superannuation, with the option to add a further 5% through co-contribution.
- Access to health and wellbeing initiatives, including up to $200 per year as a physical health reimbursement subsidy, free flu shots, free skin cancer screenings, mental health support programs, and Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) services.
- Flexible work options such as rostered days off, plus two additional paid days off each year.
- Learning and development support, including paid study leave and assistance with study fees.
- Salary packaging options, including arrangements for motor vehicles.
