Job description

Role overview

Enva is hiring an Industrial Services Trainee Driver Operative based in Portlaoise, with work also linked to Greenogue and Wexford. The role sits within the Industrial Services department and supports a business focused on recycling, resource recovery, waste treatment, and water and wastewater services. The company’s work includes giving waste a second life through energy recovery and closed-loop recycling, while also developing new solutions that extend the useful life of resources.

The person in this position will contribute to the day-to-day delivery of Industrial Services operations and may also assist other parts of the business when needed. The role reports to the Industrial Services Manager.

Key duties

The work is varied and can include a wide range of industrial services tasks, such as operating company vehicles, including HGVs used for transporting dangerous substances. It also covers cleaning and maintenance work on tanks, interceptors, bunds, drains, septic tanks, and sewers, including environments that require confined space working.

Other responsibilities may involve using mechanical and electronic equipment as directed by supervision or management, carrying out garage forecourt maintenance, and supporting decommissioning projects for underground storage tanks, above-ground tanks, related services, and pipelines. The role may also include emergency spill response for oil or chemical incidents, remediation work, collection and delivery of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials and containers, CCTV inspections of drains and similar services, and any other services introduced or provided by the company.

Skills, experience, and knowledge

While not mandatory, the following would be a clear advantage for applicants: a full Category B driving licence, experience with jet vacuum units or CCTV surveying equipment, and prior work in confined space entry operations. Enva also supports employees in obtaining an HGV Category C licence after successful completion of probation.

Other information

This position is not limited to the duties listed above, and the responsibilities may be changed where needed to support efficient business operations.

Applicants should be prepared to complete a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the hiring process, including drug and alcohol screening.

Benefits

Working with Enva may include a competitive salary, a competitive holiday allowance, access to a company pension scheme where applicable, enhanced family-friendly policies, an Employee Assistance Programme, life insurance, a Bike2Work scheme, and free on-site parking.

Enva describes itself as a company that offers more than a job, with career pathways, training, and support for people who want to build their potential while contributing to environmental protection.
