Technical Project Manager – Banking IT Operations (m/f/d)

Role Overview

This position is with a global technology and consulting services provider that supports major financial institutions across the region. The company is looking for a Technical Project Manager to drive complex initiatives in IT infrastructure, security, and operations within a tightly regulated banking setting. You will partner with engineering teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver mission-critical work successfully.

What You Will Do

• Own the complete delivery lifecycle for banking IT infrastructure and operations projects.
• Build detailed project schedules, technical work breakdown structures, and dependency maps.
• Track scope, timelines, risks, budgets, and resources across several parallel workstreams.
• Coordinate upgrades, migrations, and deployments while keeping business disruption to a minimum and following formal change control.
• Make sure delivery stays aligned with architecture standards, cybersecurity expectations, and regulatory obligations.
• Introduce consistent project delivery methods to strengthen execution quality and operational reliability.
• Manage workstreams related to collaboration platform enhancements, security control rollouts, observability tooling, and cloud operations.
• Lead initiatives involving servers, networks, storage, virtualization, and disaster recovery/business continuity environments.
• Handle vendor relationships and third-party service providers while ensuring contract and SLA compliance.
• Share project status, risk progress, and audit responses with leadership and governance groups.
• Bring together infrastructure, cloud, networking, application, and security teams to keep delivery moving.
• Apply IT risk management, cybersecurity frameworks, and internal/external regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Keep project records, approvals, compliance proof, and audit-ready documentation up to date.

Required Experience and Skills

• At least 5–10+ years of project management experience in IT, preferably within banking or financial services.
• Solid experience delivering infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity-related work.
• Proven ability to run multiple complex technical initiatives at the same time.
• Strong understanding of enterprise collaboration tools, identity platforms, and directory services.
• Working knowledge of networking basics, cloud environments such as Azure or AWS, and observability technologies.
• Familiarity with IT security controls, compliance requirements, and virtualization platforms.
• Good understanding of ITSM practices and ITIL-based processes.
• Strong capability in project planning, RAID tracking, governance reporting, and stakeholder communication.
• Hands-on experience with project delivery tools such as MS Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, and Confluence.
• PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certifications are preferred.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical matters clearly to executive audiences.
• High sense of ownership, strong analysis skills, and the ability to perform under pressure.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline is required. A master’s degree will be an added advantage.
