About the Position and Application Process

This is a permanent full-time teaching role commencing as soon as possible, based at Newman Senior High School in Western Australia. The position is part of a recruitment pilot designed to streamline applications by requiring candidates to submit a mandatory CV template and limit responses to two Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) domains during the initial stage. The remaining domain will be evaluated in subsequent assessments for shortlisted candidates. Applicants must use the CV template exclusively, as other formats will not be accepted.

About Newman Senior High School

Newman Senior High School is regarded as a pivotal educational institution in the Pilbara, dedicated to fostering student growth under "The Newman Way," which emphasizes care, compassion, respect, and responsibility. The school benefits from strong community partnerships, such as the Pilbara Education Partnership with BHP and Follow the Dream program, providing students with vocational learning opportunities. The school culture is guided by core values promoting fairness, inclusion, accountability, and positive conflict resolution.

They should actively engage with both the school and wider community, use reflective teaching practices, differentiate curriculum effectively, and focus on evidence-based decisions. The teacher will deliver Humanities and Social Sciences education aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum, fostering a differentiated learning environment aimed at maximizing student potential. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are essential to uphold the school’s ethos and values while building positive student relationships.
