About the Role
Our client is looking for a seasoned Systems Administrator to join their IT team in Dayton, OH. This full-time onsite position will encompass managing a contemporary Microsoft-based infrastructure distributed across corporate and field sites. The candidate will engage with technologies such as Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, VMware, Cisco Meraki, enterprise security, disaster recovery, and automation efforts to maintain and advance a secure, scalable, and dependable IT environment.
This role suits an infrastructure professional adept at handling both routine operations and longer-term modernization projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server systems spanning physical, virtual, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Support server hardware, storage, peripherals, and related infrastructure setups.
- Administer Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, handling user accounts, Group Policy, MFA, Conditional Access, identity governance, and least privilege principles.
- Manage Microsoft 365 applications including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive, along with Azure hybrid environments.
- Oversee VMware virtualized infrastructure and optimize performance.
- Configure and maintain Cisco Meraki firewalls, switches, wireless access points, VPNs, and network security policies.
- Monitor infrastructure, networking, and security metrics and address issues proactively.
- Implement patching, system upgrades, capacity planning, and infrastructure enhancement initiatives.
- Manage enterprise backup solutions, disaster recovery plans, business continuity procedures, including testing recovery objectives.
- Create and deploy software packages using Microsoft Configuration Manager.
- Provide Tier II and Tier III support for infrastructure, network, Microsoft 365, and enterprise app challenges.
- Support technology rollouts for both office and remote field locations.
- Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, operational standards, and change management records.
- Participate in upgrades, technology implementations, after-hours maintenance, and on-call rotations.
- Harness automation via PowerShell scripting and other modern tools to improve efficiency.
- Support all infrastructure activities complying with NIST security standards and best practice frameworks.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure support.
- Proficient in managing Windows Server ecosystems.
- Experienced with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file and print services, and identity management systems.
- Practical VMware administration skills.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft 365 and Azure hybrid cloud environments.
- Competent in Microsoft Entra ID administration including MFA, Conditional Access, and identity governance.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki networking devices and VPNs.
- Familiarity with network security best practices, endpoint protection, access control models, and NIST frameworks.
- Background in enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
- PowerShell scripting proficiency for automation purposes.
- Strong troubleshooting capabilities across infrastructure, cloud, and user-end technologies.
- Experience using monitoring tools such as PRTG and Veeam ONE.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving abilities.
